We’re proud to share that OmniWave was selected as one of the Top 80 startups (top 3% worldwide), to join the K-Startup Grand Challenge (KSGC) 2025, South Korea’s premier global acceleration program. This opportunity marks a significant milestone in our journey and a promising gateway into one of the world’s most advanced fintech landscapes.
The KSGC is backed by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and organized by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA). Designed to attract high-potential global startups into Korea’s innovation ecosystem, the program selects only a handful of applicants worldwide, offering funding, mentorship, and access to top-tier corporate and government networks. Now in its tenth year, KSGC has become a launchpad for international companies looking to scale across Asia through Korea’s dynamic tech and business landscape.
While this recognition by the KSGC is a meaningful endorsement of our work in WealthTech, it has also been a unique window into the dynamics of the South Korean financial innovation ecosystem – a market that is ripe with potential, yet still navigating important gaps in investor needs and technological capabilities.
OmniWave: Bringing Real-Time Sentiment-Driven Investing to Asia
OmniWave is a next-generation WealthTech firm that harnesses AI-powered sentiment analysis to generate actionable, automated trading strategies. Built entirely in-house and fully bootstrapped, this ultra-innovative technology interprets global financial sentiment in real-time – from news, social media, and macro signals – and uses these insights to drive fully automated investment strategies.
At the core of our approach is the belief that human emotions shape markets, and by decoding those emotional signals, we can offer investors a sharper edge. Unlike many traditional robo-advisors, OmniWave enables hands-free trading, executed in clients’ segregated accounts, with a performance-only fee model, aligning incentives and increasing transparency and truly ticking all the boxes of what’s lacking in the current global WealthTech space.
Why South Korea? A Global Leader in AI and Big Data Adoption
South Korea stands out as a global leader in adopting AI and Big Data. According to the OECD, Korea ranks no less than #1 among developed countries in both fields, outpacing the US, Germany, and the UK. These national strengths create a fertile environment for companies like OmniWave that are looking to merge deep tech with financial services.
Another major catalyst on the horizon for WealthTech firms is Korea’s AI Framework Act, expected to take effect in January 2026 – the first of its kind in Asia. The Act provides a regulatory foundation that supports ethical AI innovation while encouraging global entrants to contribute to the ecosystem. The Act reflects Korea’s commitment to becoming a global leader in AI by fostering innovation while safeguarding data privacy, fairness, and accountability. For AI-powered companies, this creates a supportive and future-ready regulatory environment – enabling scalable AI solutions that align with both compliance and public trust.
WealthTech in South Korea: A Market of Untapped Potential
South Korea’s WealthTech sector is evolving rapidly, but it still holds significant white space:
- Over 426,000 Koreans now use robo-advisors, a figure that rose 23% year-over-year.
- Yet robo-advisors currently manage less than 1% of Korea’s ~$1.2 trillion wealth market – a clear indicator of untapped demand and huge upside potential.
- ESG investing is gaining strong traction, with Korea’s ESG fund market projected to reach $50 billion. However, mission-driven portfolios remain difficult to construct within traditional platforms.
Despite a growing appetite for innovation, many platforms in the Korean market still operate under older paradigms, with limited automation, centralized fund structures, fixed fees, and a lack of real-time decisioning.
The Value OmniWave is Able to Bring to This Lively Market
While Korea is home to a handful of standout WealthTech players, only one incredible Korean company – Qraft Technologies – currently uses sentiment analysis in a meaningful way. Even so, the operational models differ between Qraft and OmniWave.
While both Qraft and OmniWave leverage AI in wealth management, their approaches are fundamentally different. Qraft has made strong strides in applying machine learning to equity strategies through pooled funds and ETF products, typically with monthly rebalancing. In contrast, OmniWave offers real-time, sentiment-driven trading in segregated client accounts, operating on a fully automated, intra-day model. Whereas Qraft applies fixed fee structures, OmniWave’s success-based model ensures clients only pay when performance is delivered. These distinctions highlight two very different philosophies: one focused on productized AI investing, and the other on client-centric, dynamic wealth management.
| Feature | Qraft | OmniWave |
|---|
| Trading Style | Monthly rebalancing | Intra-day automation |
| Product Model | Pooled funds | Segregated client accounts |
| Asset Class | Equities | Currencies |
| Fee Model | Fixed | Success-based only |
| ESG Integration | Limited | Mission-aligned portfolios with no-fee options for nonprofits |
OmniWave’s hybrid model – combining AI, Big Data, and Robo-Advisory – enables real-time investing tailored to individual values and risk tolerance, without requiring clients to transfer their assets. In this sense, OmniWave represents a client-first shift in the way intelligent investing is delivered.
Our Korean Market Strategy
OmniWave’s entry plan into Korea is grounded in both compliance and collaboration, leveraging the sandbox model governed by the Financial Services Commission (FSC):
- Regulatory Alignment: Working with the Fintech Center Korea to assess sandbox eligibility, with a focus on AML/CFT, AI ethics, and client protections.
- Local Integration: Establishing a Korean office, hiring local talent, and customizing our platform for the Korean market.
- Controlled Testing: Launching a pilot program with up to 100 clients (capped at $25M AUM), co-developed with local institutional partners.
- Scale-Up: Post-sandbox, we aim to scale operations to $250M AUM by 2027, serving both institutional and HNWI clients.
The Road Ahead
Participating in KSGC has given us an unparalleled vantage point into South Korea’s vibrant financial, cultural, and regulatory landscape. Through the program, we’ve connected with bold innovators, gathered valuable validation from local stakeholders, and enhanced our perspective on how technology can empower Korean investors in fair and equitable ways.
South Korea’s tech-driven ethos is evolving and accelerating. From rapidly developing frontier AI models like Upstage’s Solar Pro 2 – a compact 31-billion-parameter large language model recognized as a frontier-level AI – which outperforms many global counterparts on benchmark scores, to government-backed national strategies aiming to position Korea among the top three AI powerhouses through massive investments in infrastructure and talent – the country is demonstrating a rare fusion of ambition, capability, and collaboration.
Looking ahead, we can anticipate Korea to further amplify its role as a global innovator, fostering powerful public-private partnerships, elevating fintech and AI governance through forward‑leaning legislation, and nurturing ecosystems like Pangyo Techno Valley, which serve as creative enclaves for startups and conglomerates alike.
Within this dynamic environment, the next wave of WealthTech will need to balance high performance with high integrity – anchored in trust, transparency, values-aligned investing, and ethical AI. As OmniWave continues this journey, we’re eager to co-create with Korean partners, banks, institutions, regulators, and retail innovators, to help define a new standard for AI-powered, client-first wealth management in Asia.
